In my experience, a personalised onboarding is the best way to onboard a new member. I've seen community owners do a 1:1 session, explain the community rules, share the culture and then let the person in. I encourage doing this for as long as you can.  A simple extension of this is to allow your existing members to onboard new members. Clubhouse does this really well as soon as a new member joins - creates a room between all existing contacts.
