What's the biggest mistake you have done as a community builder?

This sounds silly now but when I built my first community, we did not communicate the purpose to any of our early users. This meant everyone assumed their own versions of the purpose, resulting in absolute chaos that took a while to cleanup.

Wanted to see what others have done but also things we know to avoid in the future!

With all the distractions happening around us, the challenge is to keep our focus on the people. The business knows what it wants out of the community and starts pulling us in many directions. And that's about time the community starts going down. You have to find that sweet spot between what the business want and what the people of community want.
