Does Clubhouse Count As a Social Media?

I have been active on clubhouse lately and wondering if it actually falls in the category of "social media". The reason I am asking is that the UX of clubhouse always promotes a very small group of people/club. And I have not yet experienced how it gives you a chance to be found if you have reached x amount of engagement rate within your network. (Correct me if I'm mistaken)

The other social platforms like IG, Youtube, etc. expose you to a wider audience, as long as you have good content, and people in your network engage with that content.

So I am not sure if it should be called social media, or 1% Media

As long as Clubhouse allows any user to create a room and drive conversations, it will be social. How social it is decided by many factors, like who gets more visibility, how do they pick early users, how it is going to be moderated, if its invite-only etc. These are things that will differ in every social platform.
